A royal wedding "without the pomp"

Peter Phillips's marriage to Autumn Kelly on Saturday lacked some of the wedding ideas the royals have been known for in the past.

BBC News reports that the son of Princess Anne's marriage went without a lot of the "pomp and ceremony" that is typical of such an official affair.

"Such informality was highlighted when the couple left the chapel," the source states. "With doors of St George's open, onlookers could hear that the newly-wedded couple were walking down the aisle to rapturous applause."

The Canadian bride will certainly sparkle in her wedding albums, wearing jewellery bought by her husband and a tiara lent by her mother-in-law the princess. Her ivory dress, complete with a bolero jacket and two-metre train was designed by Sassi Holford.

However, also competing in the fashion stakes to stand out in the wedding photography, Princess Beatrice wore an extremely eye-catching piece of butterfly headwear.

The groom recently chose the Isle of Wight as the location for his stag do weekend, attended by princes William and Harry.

Party ideas allegedly included dressing in cricket whites, rugby gear and drinking vodka and red bull out of a funnel. ADNFCR-1470-ID-18598739-ADNFCR
