About Us
Hi there!
Welcome to my website and thanks for clicking through....I'm glad I've managed to keep your interest so far. I've decided to do away with boring old company blurb and instead tell you a little more about us - Instant Forever - who we are, why we are and what we do.
'Who we are' is easy (scroll down if you want to see some piccies from my wedding). I'm Helen Blaber (nee Rankin) and this is my business. I'm 34 years old and I live in Seaford, East Sussex, in the UK. I got married in June 2005 (more about that later) to my lovely and very patient husband David and we've now got two little boys, Archie who is 3 years old and Felix who is 6 months old.
I'm originally from Newtownards in Northern Ireland and moved to London in 2000, which is where I met my husband - an office romance, which came together at the Christmas party. Cliched, I know but true and six years later, one child and one wedding ceremony, here we are.
I've worked in Banking and Marketing for 15 years, (makes me feel very old when I count that up) and was finally able to quit working full-time to concentrate on Instant Forever at the start of May, 2006.
'Why we are' is also easy. I've always wanted to work for myself (Aries is my star sign and I'm a first born child, so have always had Authority issues!). Well, while I was planning my wedding, I decided I wanted a guest book and even went as far as buying one of those white mulberry paper covered ones which David was not keen on at all as it looked aa bit twee. Anyway, then I something about having Polaroid photos of your guests alongside their messages and just loved the idea. Thinking about it though, I couldn't work out how I'd get the photos into the book - would I leave Pritt Stick alongside which could be a bit messy, or what? I kept looking online for a better solution, not knowing exactly what I was looking for, but on the off-chance that there would be something which would work better. I found Adesso Albums and ordered one (even though I'd already bought the Mulberry one!) It cost me about ?80 to ship over from the US as I couldn't find them in the UK. That started me thinking. If I liked the idea then other people probably would too. I contacted Lesley Mattos, the inspiring lady behind Adesso Albums and pitched for the UK distribution rights.
The night before I got married, Lesley agreed that I could go for it.
I spent quite a lot of time on Honeymoon worrying about whether I was doing the right thing. After all, I was working full-time in a job that required significant travelling, had a 1 year old son and a husband to keep happy. Did I really have the time and energy to try this?
At the end of the day, I realised that if one of my friends was in the same position, I'd be encouraging them to go for it, so that was the decision made. And now, almost two and a half years later, Instant Forever is doing really well and I'm enjoying it and my family and we're all a lot happier!
'Why we are' is also an easy one. Three reasons. One - I've got a fantastic product (no false modesty here, I wish it was my idea, but it wasn't!) Two - I like to be able to deliver a great customer experience. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true. My motto is ' How would I like to be treated?' and this is my standard - I'm a blooming demanding customer too. Three - I love working for myself and running my own business. It's challenging and scary but really worthwhile.
Now you know a little more about us, and you've managed to read this far without falling asleep, here's some pictures so you can put a face to the blurb. I've also put my contact details below, including my direct mobile number, so you can call me if you've any questions - although I have to say that my general knowledge isn't great, so don't put me down as your 'phone a friend'.
See ya later, Helen.
