On your Wedding Day
Us Two – A Reading from Pooh bear

He never leaves the seat up

He never leaves the seat up
Or wet towels upon the floor
The toothpaste has the lid on
And he always shuts the door!

She says she loves his kindness
And his patience is a must
And of course she thinks he’s handsome
Which in her eyes is a plus!

He’s a very active person
Exercise is just the ticket
Where as she likes lazy days
He’ll drag her to the cricket!

He romances her and dines her
Home cooked dinners and the like
He even knows her favourite food
And spoils her day and night!

She’s thoughtful when he looks at her
A smile upon his face
Will he look that good in 50 years
When his dentures aren’t in place?!

He says he loves her figure
And her mental prowess too
But when gravity takes her over
Will she charm with her IQ?

They’re both not wholly perfect
But who are we to judge
He can be quite stubborn
And she won’t even budget!

All that said and done
They love the time they spent together
And I hope as I’m sure you do
That this fine day will last forever.

He’ll be more than just her husband
He’ll also be her friend
And she’ll be more than just his wife
She’s be his soul mate ‘till the end.

This poem for ****** & ********
A married couple now
Is a token of the love they share
And the thought behind each vow.

Marriage

Marriage is about giving and taking
And forging and forsaking
Kissing and loving and pushing and shoving
Caring and Sharing and screaming and swearing
About being together whatever the weather
About being driven to the end of your tether
About Sweetness and kindness
And wisdom and blindness
It's about being strong when you're feeling quite weak
It's about saying nothing when you're dying to speak
It's about being wrong when you know you are right
It's about giving in, before there's a fight
It's about you two living as cheaply as one
(you can give us a call if you know how that's done!)
Never heeding advice that was always well meant
Never counting the cost until it's all spent
And for you two today it's about to begin
And for all that the two of you had to put in
Some days filled with joy, and some days with sadness
Too late you'll discover that marriage is madness.

Marriage doesn't come flat packed

Marriage is not an impulse buy.
Like getting flat pack furniture from a life style store.
It's not something you have to impress your friends,
Because everyone said it's of the latest trends.
It's not cherry veneer on MDF, with castors and handles to match.
Something you can wheel around with the flick of a catch.

It's more like that old sideboard in the corner supporting the wall.
It has a drawer for odd things like string, hooks, fuses and tape.
Another for old photos, pictures and things that have meaning.
It has solid feet and wood blocks to prevent it from leaning.
There's a place underneath for your favourite shoes.
And a nook to store things you don't want to lose.

It's not held together with clever catches and odd shaped screws.
It has dovetail joints stuck with care and old fashioned glue.
It's solid and warm with coffee ring stains and edges that don't catch.
It's totally unique. No others to match.
It has a familiar real wood smell,
And you know that it will always serve you both well.

This thing is BIG.
It can take knocks and scrapes and the odd small explosion.
It can be mended and fixed with care and devotion.
You may decide to have it restored,
A coat of French polish and new liners for drawers.
Hopefully, an occasional rub down is all that's required...

You can cover it in chintz, velvet or paint.
It can be kitsch, cheesy, tasteful or quaint.
The point is that it's yours to change.
It doesn't have to fit with the latest range.
It can be grand, outrageous, fun or tame,
Because it's built on a hardwood frame.

This piece has no price tag. It's not on a list and can't be bought in a sale.
There's no receipt, it can't go back to the shop or be sold.
It doesn't come in flat pack with a plan and some packing.
It may end up battered, tired and lacking.
But it's yours. Yours alone. Don't be tempted to chuck it into a skip,
Because fashion dictates that sideboards aren't hip.

TEDDY BEAR

Getting married means you'll have
Someone's hand to hold,
Even when you're feeling sick,
Even when you're old.

It means when you sit down to eat,
Someone will be there,
So you won't have to tell your day
To an empty chair.

It means that you can have some kids
Just like a mom and dad,
And play with them all afternoon,
Except when they are bad.

It means that when you need some help,
Someone will help out,
Someone always near to you
So you won't have to shout.

But best of all is when it's time
To turn out all the lights:
You won't have to be alone
Those long and scary nights.

So even though you don't have toys,
You don't have to care:
Once you're married you can be
Each other's teddy bear!

Maybe.....

Maybe…We are supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the Right one, so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
Maybe...it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives
Maybe...the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of
Everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their Way.
Maybe...the best kind of love is the kind you where you can sit on a sofa
Together never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best Conversation you've ever had
Maybe...you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Maybe...you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.
Maybe Love is not about finding the perfect person; it's about learning to see an imperfect person perfectly. When you do what you can, love will do what you can't

A Lovely Love Story

~ by Edward Monkton ~

The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice. Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, HIS cage.

Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur.

The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur's cage with kind words and loving thoughts.

I like this Dionsaur, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. Although he is fierce he is also tender and he is funny. He is also quite clever though I will not tell him this for now.

I like this Lovely Other Dinosaur, thought the Dinosaur. She is beautiful and she is different and she smells so nice. She is also a free spirit which is a quality I much admire in a dinosaur.

But he can be so distant and so peculiar at times, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.

He is also overly fond of Things. Are all Dinosaurs so overly fond of Things?

But her mind skips from here to there so quickly, thought the Dinosaur. She is also uncommonly keen on Shopping. Are all Lovely Other Dinosaurs so uncommonly keen on shopping?

I will forgive his peculiarity and his concern for Things, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. For they are part of what makes him a richly charactered individual.

I will forgive her skipping mind and her fondness for shopping, thought the Dinosaur. For she fills our life with beautiful thought and wonderful surprises. Besides, I am not unkeen on shopping either.

Now the Dinosaur and the Lovely Other Dinosaur are old. Look at them.

Together they stand on the hill telling each other stories and feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs.

And that, my frends, is how it is with love. Let us all be Dinosaurs and Lovely Other Dinosaurs together.

For the sun is warm. And the world is a beautiful place.

On your Wedding Day

Today is a day you will always remember
the greatest in anyones life
You'll start the day off just two people in love
and end it as husband and wife.

Its a brand new beginning the start of a journey
with moments to cherish and treasure
and although there'll be times when you both disagree
these will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
when the secrets of marriage were spoken
but you know that the answers lie hidden inside
where the bond of true love lies unbroken

So live happy forever as lovers and friends
its the dawn of a new life for you
as you stand together with love in your eyes
from the moment you whisper 'i do'

And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
may success find its way to your hearts
tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
but today is the day it all starts.

Us Two – A reading from Pooh Bear

~ By AA Milne~

"Wherever I am, there's always Pooh; there's always Pooh and me. Whatever I do, he wants to do, "where are you going today?" says Pooh... "Well, that's very odd 'cos I was too.

"Let's go together," says Pooh, says he. "Let's go together", says Pooh. "What's twice eleven?" I said to Pooh, "Twice what?" said Pooh to Me. "I think it ought to be twenty two", "Just what I think myself," said Pooh. "It wasn't an easy sum to do, But that's what it is," said Pooh, said he. "That's what it is," said Pooh.

"Let's look for the dragons," I said to Pooh. "Yes, let's," said Pooh to Me. We crossed the river and found a few... "Yes those are dragons all right," said Pooh. "As soon as I saw their beaks I knew. That's what they are," said Pooh, said he. "That's what they are," said Pooh.

"Let's frighten the dragons," I said to Pooh. "That's right," said Pooh to Me. "I'm not afraid," I said to Pooh, And held his paw and shouted "Shoo! Silly old dragons!" and off they flew. "I wasn't afraid," said Pooh, said he, "I'm never afraid with you."

So wherever I am, there's always Pooh; there's always Pooh and me. "What would I do?" I said to Pooh, "If it wasn't for you," and Pooh said... "True, It isn't much fun for One, but Two can stick together," says Pooh, says he. "That's how it is," says Pooh.
