Beyonce Knowles and boyfriend Jay-Z tied the knot on Friday (April 4th), according to media reports.

"Jay wanted it to be a really private affair - close friends and family," a source told People magazine.

The publication claims that a vehicle carrying a range of party ideas from flowers to DJing equipment arrived early Friday morning while workers erected a white tent on the roof of rapper Jay-Z's Tribeca apartment.

Media reports were abuzz with wedding ideas regarding the couple earlier in the week when representatives of the hip-hop couple confirmed that the pair had taken out a marriage licence in New York.

However, there has been no official confirmation that they have tied the knot.

A source told US Weekly magazine: "It was amazing - very special, very private, very intimate.

"Everyone had so much fun. It ended up being a wild party. People partied until 04:30 am."
