The life of music legend Johnny Cash will be celebrated at the Fender Centre in Corona, California next week, two days before what would have been his 76th birthday.

Musical performances from San Diego-based tribute band Cashd Out will be taking place, while guests will have the opportunity to talk to the singer's children John Carter Cash and Cindy Cash.

Bill Miller, an old friend of the country music star and operator of the official Johnny Cash website, said that now was the time to "celebrate one of the largest musical icons in the world".

He added that the party presents "an unprecedented opportunity" for Cash fans to meet the singer's friends, family and other close ones.

The venue houses the Cash: An American Icon exhibition which includes some of his instruments song lyrics and other memorabilia. It is effectively a live photo album of his life in rock 'n' roll.

Other venues across the US, including the Southpaw club in Brooklyn, New York, are holding similar-themed birthday celebrations next week.
