A bride and groom with their faces full of fish and chips may not be traditional wedding photography, but James and Hannah Kirkby do not mind.

The newlyweds were distraught to find that the caterers they had hired for their village hall reception had not turned up but luckily the bride's mum had some unusual wedding ideas.

She phoned up the local chippy and ordered 52 fish suppers for the couple and their guests - the biggest order Weymouth's Marlboro had ever completed.

"The food went down a treat, it was gorgeous," remarked mother-of-the-bride Katy Phillips. "The restaurant even brought salt, vinegar and ketchup.

"It could have been a disaster, but they really saved the day."

Owner of the restaurant Mike Johnson said that he and his staff were happy to help and that this was certainly the first time he had catered for a wedding party.

Although this particular couple had not originally planned to be eating battered cod on their wedding day, Daniel and Carly Jackson actually organised a fish and chip wedding feast.

The newlyweds tucked into their traditional fish supper as part of their Blackpool-themed nuptials, reported the Blackpool Gazette.
