She may be able to afford the best in the business when it comes to wedding ideas but it seemed Beyonce opted for getting a little help from her family.

The singer reportedly ditched the idea of having expensive caterers when she tied the knot with rapper Jay-Z and instead got her mother Tina and his grandmother involved.

Tina Knowles told Giant magazine: "We cooked all the food. I cooked all my Creole stuff and his grandmother cooked her oxtails.

"My favourite part was when we put all of this home cooking on that fancy china. It was special."

It is believed that Beyonce preferred to recruit family members to help with the big day as hiring outsiders left the event more open to media scrutiny.

The pair were hitched in April at a private ceremony in New York city with only 30 family and friends in attendance.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were among the guests along with Beyonce's Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
