Planning a baby shower can be extremely enjoyable, reports the LA Chronicle.

According to the publication, the first thing an organiser has to decide is a theme and colour scheme for all the party ideas and invitations.

Pastel or muted tones are often the best choices for a baby shower, it recommended, as are themes such as animals, cartoon characters or anything childlike.

"Be original and avoid the cliches - blue for boys, pink for girls are too predictable - the colour pallet offers endless possibilities," it stated.

Preparing a baby photo album is another fun thing to do, the source claimed, adding that although this takes "patience and dedication", the extra time and effort can pay off with an unforgettable event.

Although traditionally a US-based tradition, it was recently revealed that the baby shower trend has caught on in the UK.

A report by cahoot revealed that around 3.9 million Brits have attended or held a baby shower during the past five years.
