The cost of weddings is shocking a number of British couples, with new research revealing that total expenses add up to a lot more than expected.

Alliance & Leicester research found that the bill for the big day, including wedding photography, the dress, rings and the honeymoon is costing an average of £19,400 - 22 per cent higher than people predicted.

Richard Al-Dabbagh, head of personal loans at the firm, remarked: "Love is in the air, but so is inflation.

"While a wedding should be the most important and enjoyable day of your life, it does come with a hefty price tag attached."

Photographer David Paul recently told the Daily Post that one of the most common mistakes couples have with their wedding albums is that they appear too posed or formal.

He advised that wedding photo albums are the best when the happy pair relax on their big day.
