Pop star Kylie Minogue received her birthday gifts in Germany yesterday, as she celebrated turning 40.

The Australian singer enjoyed dinner with her friends and family including her sister X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue.

"Kylie will be celebrating her birthday with her family and close friends," a spokesperson confirmed.

Although these may seem rather subdued party ideas for such a milestone birthday, the petite star hosted a big bash in Greece last week.

Over 100 people attended including employees from her record label, tour and management. Minogue even hired outside caterers so that her regular kitchen staff could attend the do.

The celebrations reportedly lasted all night, held at a seaside hotel in Athens.

Minogue had previously told Q magazine: "I'm not scared of turning 40. I think it's going to be quite liberating."

She resumes her tour today (May 29th) in Munich and will move on to Switzerland, France and Spain.
