American talk show host Oprah Winfrey is celebrating her 55th birthday this weekend with lavish birthday gifts and star-studded party ideas, reports reveal.

The US media mogul has reportedly hired the culinary talents of celebrity chef of LA restaurant Fedeli, J Scot Jones, to cook for some 40 party guests on Saturday to mark the occasion.

Fellow chat show queen, Ellen Degeneres is also expected to attend the A-list birthday celebrations.

As for birthday gifts, Oprah's long-term friend, actress Jennifer Aniston previously told CBS News: "I know what I'd get her. I'm going to give her a donation to her school in Africa."

Speaking in the channel's Early Show, In Touch Weekly bureau chief Ashley Dillahunty added: "I think the older she gets, the more successful she gets, and the more ideas come to her, and she just is building and building her empire."

For Oprah's milestone 50th birthday, reports claimed no expense was spared on party ideas to celebrate. Celebrities from all facets of the media joined the TV personality at a black and white-themed bash at her ranch in California.
