Easter weekend is a popular time of year for hen parties and stag dos, according to the Fair Investment Company.

The company states that the celebrations, which are "renowned for their drunken debauchery", are increasingly taking place in foreign countries such as Spain, the Netherlands and France.

"Many stag and hen parties abroad take place over a weekend," commented James Caldwell, director of Fairinvestment.co.uk. "The Easter weekend is always popular because of the Bank Holidays."

However, Mr Caldwell warned that even the most sobering of party ideas, such as travel insurance, does need to be taken care of - and recommended that the best man or bridesmaid takes charge of these details.

Halifax Travel Insurance recently revealed that short long-haul mini-breaks are becoming more popular among Brits.

The firm added that 17 per cent of those who took this type of holiday last year were attending a wedding, stag do or hen party.
