Stags and hens 'flying further'
12 Mar
Couples planning their big day are becoming more adventurous with their wedding ideas, it has been reported.
According to Halifax Travel Insurance, over 3.7 million holidaymakers flew more than 5.5 billion miles for a long haul mini-break last year.
Of these, 17 per cent claimed they were attending a stag do, hen party or a wedding.
They may have been spurred into planning exotic reception party ideas by Britain's weather.
Paul Birkhead, senior management of pricing and underwriting at the firm, claimed: "The lure of winter sun, favourable exchange rates and cheaper long haul flights has created a boom in demand for long haul mini breaks."
Price comparison site moneysupermarket.com has revealed that Brits abroad, whether it be for weddings, stag do's or just a holiday, are drinking £4.5 billion worth of alcohol a year.
Boozing men were revealed to spend over £100 each while partying abroad, whereas women splash out that little bit less at just under £70 each.
