Summer wedding ideas do not necessarily mean informal, outdoor celebrations, couples have been advised.

Wedding portal The Knot has stated that many brides and grooms-to-be are under the impression that simply because they are tying the knot in the summer, their wedding albums must be centred around the outdoors.

"You can use your creativity and design skills to make an indoor space suit the season," it explained. "Hang summer lanterns or create a summer flower-strewn indoor aisle."

If a couple have their heart set on traditional wedding photo albums featuring formal suits and gowns, this is still possible this season, the website added.

There are plenty of clothing options available for weddings in lightweight fabrics, it claimed.

However, there are precautions that people planning their wedding ideas have to take, it warned, such as purchasing flowers which are unlikely to wilt in heat and also using fondant instead of buttercream in the cake to avoid a "melting mess".

Brides getting married in the summer may prefer to break wedding traditions and wear a dress which falls above the knee, reported Forbes magazine.
