Cosmetic dentistry has fast become an important aspect of bridal beauty preparations, with more brides seeking treatment in order to look their best for their wedding photography, experts suggest.

According to the British Dental Association, teeth are our second biggest worry in terms of our appearance.

Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, said: "A person's smile is a hugely important feature. It is the feature most commonly noticed.

"Cosmetic dentistry has become more readily available, and tooth whitening, for example, is a relatively cheap and simple procedure. People are looking at different ways to boost their smile and confidence."

Like professional make-up and hair styling, pre-wedding treatments such as whitening and veneers are increasingly popular among brides getting ready for their big day, to add sparkle to their wedding photo albums.

In some cases, brides and bridesmaids are given dental treatments as bridal shower gifts from family members and close friends.
